Regulation (EU) 2021/1058 of the EP and of the Council of 24/6/2021 on the European Regional Development Fund and on the Cohesion Fund, OJEU 2021 L 231/60. The promotion of access to water and sustainable water management is explicitly one element of the second specific objective related to a “greener, low-carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy and resilient Europe” (article 2). Since its adoption (1994) the Cohesion Fund contributes to projects in the field of environment and trans-European networks in the area of transport infrastructures. This fund has contributed in particular to the implementation of the EU Urban Waste Directive.
