See article 6 WFD concerning the register of protected areas which include the areas designated for the abstraction of drinking water and the article 7 of WFD which concerns the obligations of Member States related to waters uses for the abstraction of drinking water : identification “within each river basin district all bodies of water used for the abstraction of drinking water providing more that 10 m3 a day as an average or serving more that 50 persons and those bodies of water intended for such future use”.
